Project Overview:
Situated within the Talkha Power Generation Compound, on the western bank of the Nile River’s Damietta Branch, the New Talkha 750 MW Combined Cycle Project represents a significant addition to Egypt’s power infrastructure.
The plant’s design features a power block comprising two 250 MW combustion turbine generators. Each of these generators channels exhaust gases to its own heat recovery steam generator. The combined output of these steam generators then drives a single 250 MW condensing steam turbine generator. This configuration enables the facility to achieve a net output of 750 MW.
To facilitate its operation, the power plant draws its cooling water from the Damietta Branch of the Nile River. By employing a combined cycle process, which utilizes both gas and steam turbines, the plant maximizes energy efficiency, contributing to a more reliable power supply for the region.
Key Components:
The New Talkha Power Station project includes the following key components:
- Combustion Turbine Generators (CTGs): Generating electricity using gas turbines.
- Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs): Utilizing exhaust heat from the CTGs to produce steam.
- Steam Turbine Generator (STG): Generating additional electricity using the steam produced by the HRSGs.
- Cooling System: A system for dissipating heat, essential for the plant’s operation.
- Electrical Systems: Equipment for power transmission and distribution.
- Control Systems: Systems for monitoring and controlling the power generation process.
